Reginald “Rex” H. Vinkemeier, age 98, of Watertown, passed away Tuesday May 20, 2014, at the Elim Home in Watertown.
The funeral service will take place Monday, May 26 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Watertown Township, with the Rev. Bill Kirmsse officiating. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church; interment at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery will follow the service.
Casket bearers will be Mike Peterson, Todd Heldt, Nathan Heldt, Adam De Vries, Lee Winkelman, and Chris Wood.

Reginald was born May 3, 1916, in Benton Township, Carver County, the son of Edward and Clara (Harms) Vinkemeier. He was baptized June 6, 1916, at Zion Lutheran Church in Benton Twp. by the Rev. Herman AmEnd, and confirmed April 2, 1930, by the same.
Reginald was united in marriage to Verda M. Hilk Nov. 10, 1937, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia by the Rev. Wm. Schneider. Rex and Verda were married for 74 blessed years enjoying every day spent together.
Rex was a perfectionist when it came to taking care of the farm, keeping everything in tip-top shape. He constructed the first house that they lived in.
He liked dancing, gardening, and painting.
Rex held various offices at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Watertown, and served on the township board for a number of years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Verda Vinkemeier; a son, Roger Vinkemeier; parents Edward and Clara Vinkemeier; and brothers Hartmod, Edward, and Lloyd Vinkemeier.
Reginald is survived by his loving family; children Dianne and Alan Maas of Walker, Luann and John Peterson of Lakeville, Mary Ann and David Heldt, and Reggie and Liz Vinkemeier, all of Watertown; daughter-in-law Marlys Vinkemeier of Watertown; grandchildren Christine and Lee Winkelman, Tim and Roz Peterson, Debra and Aaron Lerner, Mike and Tao Peterson, Robin Peterson, Michelle and Adam De Vries, Todd and Dana Heldt, Jodene and Steve Penegor, Nathan and Tricia Heldt, Sara and David Frankson, Meg and Chris Wood, and Anna and Jarett Berg; great-grandchildren Kayla, Hunter, Zachary, Max, Teddy, Grant, Gwendalyn, Meghan, Matthew, Alexus, Logan, Lyndsey, Lucas, William, Carly, Henry, and Brayden; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
