Abigail Jeannette Voight, age 93, of Mayer, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at the Elim Nursing Home in Watertown.
A graveside memorial service will be held in spring at the St. Lukes United Church Of Christ cemetery in Eitzen.
Abigail was born Aug. 3, 1920, in Rushford, the daughter of John and Katie (Jorgenson) Clayton. She graduated from the Rushford High School, and the Winona Teachers College.
Abigail had taught country school in Oak Ridge, Malen, and Eitzen.
It was in Eitzen that she met her companion, Lloyd Voight. Abigail and Lloyd were united in marriage Sept. 10, 1944, in Rushford. The couple made their home in south eastern Minnesota, until moving to Hopkins in 1953.
Abigail had worked for Minneapolis Moline, and later as an office manager for Mack Brown until her retirement.
In 1965, Abigail and Lloyd moved to rural Mayer ,where they were engaged in farming.
Abigail enjoyed sewing, cooking, and flower gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Katie Clayton; and her husband, Lloyd Voight.
Abigail is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Carl Soderstrom of Mayer; and grandson Carl Soderstrom of Concord, NH.
