Jane V. Weibel Obituary – 07/03/2014


Jane Violet Barfnecht Weibel, age 74, of Waverly, died Thursday, July 3, 2014.

She was born July 12, 1939, at the family farm in Woodland Township, Montrose, the oldest of five children born to Walter and Violet (Wandersee) Barfnecht.

Jane was baptized July 30, 1939, at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Delano by the Rev. E. H. Bruns. She was instructed in the Christian faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Watertown, and was confirmed there March 29, 1953, by the Rev. John Spomer. Her Bible verse was John 6:68.

Jane attended Watertown High School, graduating in May of 1957.

Jane and Duane Weibel were united in marriage July 27, 1957, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown by the Rev. Louis Wetzel.

After their marriage, Jane joined St John’s Lutheran Church in Winsted, where she remained a member at the time of her death.

Jane was employed at Tonka Toys, and as a secretary for St. John’s Lutheran church. She and Duane farmed together many years in Hollywood Township.

She loved gardening and flowers, and company enjoyed looking at her variety of flowers, which the birds and bees seemed to enjoy also. Her biggest love was her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Jane is survived by her husband of 56 years, Duane, of Waverly; her children: Robin Weibel, Randy Weibel (special friend Ronda Schroeder), all of Winsted, Renee (Mike) Salonek of Montrose, and Ron (Bobbi) Weibel of Cokato; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She is further survived by siblings, Joan (Ken) Moy of Mayer, Eugene (Donna) Barfnecht, Don (Mary) Barfnecht, all of Watertown, and Dale (Betty) Barfnecht of Mayer; brother-in law Jerome (Mary Lou) Weibel of Fayetteville, GA; and sister-in-law Barb (Ken) Rosin of Gaylord.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Violet Barfnecht; her parents-in-law, George and Edna Weibel; and by four sisters-in-law.

A memorial service took place Saturday, July 12 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted with the Rev. Mark Loder officiating. Molly Loder was the organist. Interment followed at the Winsted Public Cemetery.

Visitation was Friday, July 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winsted.

Honorary bearers were Jesse Wemhoff, Jeremy Wemhoff, Melissa Forcier, Amanda Weibel, Nick Salonek, Matt Salonek, Kailee Leinonen, and Brittany Leinonen.

Urn bearers were Adam Stifter and Lauren Salonek.
