Reseda ‘Sadie’ Wickenhauser, 102

Reseda E. “Sadie” Wickenhauser, age 102, of Cologne, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at the Auburn Home in Waconia.

She was born Oct. 13, 1911, in Mayer, the daughter of August and Theresa (Elling) Splettstoeszer. Sadie was baptized Nov. 19, 1911, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer by the Rev. F.W. Erthal; and later confirmed in the faith April 5, 1925, at the same church by Rev. Erthal.

Sadie grew up on a farm in rural Mayer.

She was united in marriage with Norbert W. Wickenhauser April 18, 1940, at the parsonage of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Cologne by Fr. Rinke. The couple farmed and raised their family near Cologne.

Sadie worked at Tonka Toys for over 10 years as a toy painter, before retiring in 1976.

After her retirement, she like going to garage sales, doing crossword puzzle books, reading, and bird watching. Sadie especially looked forward to attending both the Carver County Fair and the Minnesota State Fair.

Sadie loved her family and enjoyed the many get-togethers and celebrations they shared.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert Wickenhauser; daughter-in-law Barbara Wickenhauser; brothers Ferdinand, Edward, Clarence, Harold, Ellsworth, Werner, Melvin and Irwin Splettstoeszer; and sisters Louise Splettstoeszer, Vera Wagener, Goldie Brandt, Esther Riley, Myrtle Terlinden, Idella Westermann, and Violet Splettstoeszer.

Sadie is survived by her loving family: children sons and daughter-in-law Ryland Wickenhauser of Cologne, and Delvyn and Gloria Wickenhauser of Norwood Young America; daughter and son-in-law Marla and Galen Good of Cologne; and grandchildren Toni Wickenhauser, Rob (Deanne) Wickenhauser, Teri Wickenhauser (fiancé Doug Jones), Reid Wickenhauser, Peg (Doug) Schuette, Greg Wickenhauser (fiancée Dawn Standish), Jodi (John) Raidt, Lee Wickenhauser (fiancée Stephanie Benson), Darrin (Brenda) Good, Bob (Jill) Good, Phil (Angie) Good, and Stephanie (Joe) Griep.

She is further survived by great-grandchildren Paige and Hailey Wickenhauser, Kahli and Kassidi Wickenhauser, Easton Jones, Ashley (Justin) Wickenhauser-Greif, Melissa Wickenhauser, Tom (Andrea) Wickenhauser, Megan and James Wickenhauser, John Henry and LiLi Raidt, Kelsi, Alexa, Alexia, Karissa, and Kaydince Wickenhauser, Isaac, Taia and Adam Good, Ellie, Grant and Hannah Good, Emma and Reese Good, and Natalie and Jack Griep; great-great-grandchildren Danielle Greif, and Emmett and Ethan Wickenhauser; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

The funeral service took place Saturday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer with the Rev. Adam Gless officiating. Interment was in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Mayer.

Visitation was Friday, Jan. 24 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.; and continued Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Casket bearers were Rob Wickenhauser, Reid Wickenhauser, Greg Wickenhauser, Lee Wickenhauser, Darrin Good, Bob Good, and Phil Good.
