Don F. Williams Obituary – 6/17/2014


Don F. Williams, 81, of Clifton, NJ, formerly of Howard Lake, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Don was born in Howard Lake, to Frank and Mildred (Brewster) Williams.

He resided in Glen Ridge, NJ for 48 years, before moving to Clifton one year ago.

Don honorably served his country during the Korean War in the US Navy. While stationed in New Jersey, he met and married his wife of 60 years, Eleanor (nee Corbett) Williams of Margate, NJ.

After attaining his degree in business from Hamline University, St. Paul, Don began his life’s work with N.J. Bell Telephone Systems and AT&T, where he worked for 30 years in New York and New Jersey before retiring.

Don is survived by his devoted wife, Eleanor Williams; his five treasured daughters: Kathleen Tedesco (Louis), Leigh Anne Hanas (George), Colleen Sowa (Peter Tighe), Margaret Cerimido (Charles), and Amy Fitton; his brother, William Williams; his sister, Mae Wannarka; his cherished grandchildren, Michael Moran, Lauren, Jonathan and Logan Sowa, Hayley and Dean Cerimido, and Cole and Claudia Fitton; and his two precious great-grandchildren, Trey and Max Moran.

He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Williams; his parents; and a brother, Gary Williams.

The funeral was conducted from the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, NJ Thursday, June 19 at 8:45 a.m. There was a funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, Montclair, NJ at 10 a.m., and interment was at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield, NJ.
