Alice T. Worm Obituary – 2/18/2014


Alice T. Worm, age 83, of Waconia, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at the Lighthouse in Waconia.

She was born Jan. 10, 1931, in Shakopee, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Stemig) Pieper. Alice was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marystown.

She was united in marriage to Melvin N. Worm Aug. 30, 1949, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marystown.

Alice loved spending time in her garden, tending to her vegetables. She would listen to old tyme music and occasionally take in a dance.

Alice knew her way around the kitchen, baking and cooking for her family. She liked to play a round of cards with whoever was around.

Alice had a good sense of humor, giving out a hard time and receiving one.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin N. Worm; and her parents, Henry and Mary Pieper.

Alice is survived by her loving family; children and spouses Tom Worm and Alice Skadsberg of Duluth, Nancy and John Engler of Shakopee, Ron “Mort” Worm and fiancée Joanne Heacock of Norwood Young America, Margaret Boll of Maple Plain, Carol and Chuck Lyons of Hibbing, Harry and Judy Worm, Leon and Cindy Worm, Paul Worm, all of Chaska, and Barb and Dale Guenigsman of Lester Prairie; grandchildren Charlene and Mike Forcier, Tom and Tracy Worm, Debbie and Brad Schmitt, Stacey Engler, Dan and Joanie Engler, Kassy Worm and fiancé Jeff Skiba, Kally and Nick Woolwhine, Jason Boll, Jeremey and Jackie Boll, Julie and Damon Thompson, Jon Boll, Justin Boll, Nick Lyons, Sara Lyons, Katie Worm, Mike and Keli Worm, Eddie Worm, Alyssa and Joe Borders, and Abigail Guenigsman; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She is further survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise and Oliver Busch of New Prague, and Kathy and Tom Kes of Jordan; brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Joan Pieper of Shakopee; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Saturday, Feb. 22 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia with Father Bennet Tran as celebrant. There was visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.

Alice’s grandchildren were her casket bearers.
