Eugene H. Wosmek Obituary – 3/5/2014


Eugene Henry Wosmek, age 70, of Hutchinson, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Harmony River in Hutchinson.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, May 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake with Father Tony Stubeda and Father Patrick Okonkwo as con-celebrants. Alice Nowak will be the organist for the Mass. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.

There will be a time of gathering one hour prior to the Mass.

Jerome Sopkowiak will be the urn bearer.

Eugene was born Dec. 13, 1943, in Glencoe, the son of Henry and Alice (Shimanski) Wosmek.

He lived in Faribault, Willmar, Winsted, and Dassel, and most recently resided at Aveyron Homes in Hutchinson.

Eugene was very fond of horses, and enjoyed cowboy movies, receiving mail, and home cookies.

He is survived by a brother, Donald (Christy) Wosmek of Scottsdale, AZ; sisters Phyllis Sopkowiak and her husband Larry Ostendorf of Glencoe, and Lorraine Quast of Winsted; an aunt, Eunice Wosmek; uncle Sam Shimanski; nieces; nephews; cousins; Sheila Quast, his caregiver for many years; and caregivers and friends of Aveyron Homes in Hutchinson.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Alice Wosmek; and by two brothers-in-law, Donald Sopkowiak, and Raphael Quast.
