Delwin F. Zuehl, age 82, of Excelsior, passed away Monday Nov. 17, 2014, at Garden House of St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
He was born Jan. 14, 1932, in Camden Township, Carver County, the son of William and Lydia (Goede) Zuehl.
Delwin was united in marriage to Joyce Aldritt Feb. 18, 1956, in Excelsior.
Delwin was a proud veteran of the US Army, and was a member of the American Legion. He also volunteered on the Excelsior Fire Department for 22 years.
He worked for the City of Excelsior from 1956 until 1987.
Delwin enjoyed ice fishing, camping, playing cards, traveling, and polka dancing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Zuehl; parents William and Lydia Zuehl; daughter-in-law Toni Zuehl; brother Roland (Ella) Zuehl; and sister LaVerna (Walter) Baumann.
Delwin is survived by his loving family: children Richard Zuehl of Excelsior, William Zuehl of Minnetonka, Diane Zuehl of Excelsior, Robert Zuehl of Phoenix, AZ, Ronald Zuehl of Shorewood, and Mark (Joy Ann) Zuehl of Glencoe; grandchildren Shawn Zuehl, Brian Zuehl, Theresa Wente, Brandon Zuehl, Mathew Wente, Alma and Martin; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Judy and Tom Raymond of Chanhassen, and Marcia Schiferli of Excelsior; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service took place Friday, Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Excelsior with the Rev. David Olson officiating. There was a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service. Interment was in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
