Frederick Anderson, 65

Frederick (Fred) Daniel Anderson, age 65, of St. Cloud, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at the St. Cloud VA medical facility.

Fred, the son of Andrew and Lorraine (Hamari) Anderson, grew up in East Bethel.

He served as a member of the US Army, serving mostly in European countries for four years.

After his military service, Fred worked as a teacher, insurance agent, and at the St. Cloud DAV.

Fred was well-known for his love of helping our country’s veterans at the St. Cloud VA facility, serving there as a volunteer in many capacities.

He was a lifelong member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church.

He was also an avid fisherman, who enjoyed sharing his fishing techniques with others.

Fred will always be remembered for his humorous true life stories.

He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew.

Fred is survived by his mother, Lorraine, of Cokato.; children: Michael (Pat) of Bangkok, Thailand; Chad (Breanne) of Brooklyn Park; Brandon (Angie) of Savage; Andrea of Austin, TX; and Joanna (Chris) Ehresman of Plymouth; and grandchildren Nina Anderson; Kieran, Cooper, and Jocelyn Anderson; Tristan and Charlotte Anderson; and Eli Ehresman.

He is further survived by brothers Les of Portland, OR; David (Sylvia) of Virginia, MN; and Robert (Ruth) of Cokato; sisters Karen (Tom) Aho, and Barbara (John) Lehto, all of Cokato; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral services took place Saturday, Jan. 31 at 2 p.m. at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church in Dassel, with visitation one hour prior to the service. There will be a military burial service at Camp Ripley at a later date.
