Arthur J. Borer Obituary – 5/21/2015


Arthur Joseph Borer, age 88, of Watertown, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015.

He was born Feb. 14, 1927, in Lindsay, NE.

Art deeply loved his family, and enjoyed gathering his family and friends in his home.

He was a World War II Navy veteran, and a devoted church and community volunteer.

Art was a longtime, successful insurance broker who built a network of clients and friends in Minneapolis and Carver County.

He enjoyed raising ducks and chickens, tending to his apple orchard, and watching his gardens grow. 

Art is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jane Neaton Borer; children Mary (Mike) Welch, Anne, Phillip, Barbara, Timothy, Julia (Vance) Ellis, Teresa, Bridget, Tony (Jeannette), and Christopher (Susan).

In addition, he is survived by 16 grandchildren: Katy Welch Marcotte, Bridget Welch Schwebach, Michelle Welch Yangwel, Kendall Svobodny-Borer Youngworth, Megan Borer, Mary Borer , Nicolas Ellis, Kevin Ellis , Phillip Borer Nelson, Jordan Borer Nelson, Adam Rieger-Borer, Mark Rieger-Borer, Bailey Rieger-Borer, Patrick Borer, Melissa Borer, and Shea Borer; 18 great-grandchildren: Emily Marcotte Sullivan, Sara Marcotte, Erik Marcotte, Mickaela Welch Schwebach, Isabel Schwebach, Trevor Schwebach, Zachary Yangwel, Colin Yangwel, Emmett Youngworth, Kaliyah Blanks, Josiyah Williams, Kennie Williams III, Azare Aumua, Amariana Aumua, Aden Aumua, Jadyn Miles, Honor Borer Nelson, and Jordan Borer Nelson; one great-great-granddaughter, Rachael Sullivan; eight sisters and brothers; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Art was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Bridget; a son, Mark Anthony; great-granddaughters Rachael Marcotte, and Naziyah Borer-Nelson; parents Anthony Borer and Mary Stenger Borer; and a sister, Patricia Borer Crow.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, May 29 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown.

There was a gathering of family and friends Thursday, May 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Watertown Community Center, with a 7:15 p.m. Celebration of Life. Gathering continued Friday from 10 to 11 a.m., with a 9:30 a.m. rosary service, at the church, prior to Mass.

Arrangements were with the Iten’s Watertown Funeral Home.
