Mildred Irene (Fruetel) Feltmann, age 98, of Norwood Young America, passed away Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at Elim Nursing Home in Watertown.
She was born June 17, 1916, in Bergen Township, McLeod County, the daughter of Edward and Stella (Packer) Fruetel. Mildred was baptized as an infant Sept. 24, 1916, and later confirmed in her faith as a youth, April 13, 1930, both at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.
She attended country school until the eighth grade.
Mildred was united in marriage to Harold Feltmann Jan. 22, 1936, at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. This marriage was blessed with two children, Kenneth and Dennis. The couple made their home in Norwood Young America.
Mildred and Harold shared over 44 years of marriage together until Harold passed away June 20, 1980.
Mildred was a farm wife in every sense of the word. She worked on the farm with Harold and her sons, and could milk cows better than most.
A member of Church of Peace in Norwood Young America, Mildred served on the Women’s Guild.
She had many talents, including crocheting, embroidering, and patching. She also enjoyed trips to her son’s farm.
Mildred loved spending time with her family and friends.
She moved to The Village in Norwood Young America when she needed more assistance, and recently moved to Elim Nursing Home in Watertown.
Mildred is survived by her sons, Kenneth Feltmann and his wife, Betty, of Lester Prairie, and Dennis Feltmann and his wife, Lynette, of Norwood Young America; grandchildren Scott Feltmann and his wife, Becky, of Hamburg, Peggy Wilkens and her husband, Charles, of Plato, Todd Feltmann and his wife, Sofica, of Ohio, Chad Feltmann and his wife, Cara, of Belle Plaine, Cherie Smith and her husband, David, of Norwood Young America, Christopher Feltmann and his wife, Heather, of Hamburg, and Corey Feltmann and his wife, Katie, of Norwood Young America.
She is further survived by great-grandchildren, Nathan Wilkens and his wife, Stephanie, of Glencoe, Amber Wilkens and her special friend, Brent, of Jasper, MN, Lisa Feltmann and her fiancé, Justin, Calvin Feltmann and his special friend, Lauren, all of Ohio, Tyler Smith, Brittney Smith, both of Norwood Young America, Chloe Feltmann, Carly Feltmann, both of Belle Plaine, Olivia Feltmann, and Emily Feltmann, both of Norwood Young America; and great-great grandchildren, Macey Wilkens of Glencoe, and Ashton and Deeni Feltmann of Ohio; a brother, Ralph Fruetel and his wife, Elaine, of Colorado; sisters-in-law Sonja Fruetel of Cosmos, and Vera Fruetel of Lester Prairie; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
In addition to her husband, Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Stella Fruetel; and brothers and a sister.
Funeral services took place Sunday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. at Church of Peace in Norwood Young America, followed by interment at Forest Hill Cemetery in Norwood Young America. Pastor Dale Inman officiated, and Jane Fasching was the pianist. Soloist Tom Fruetel sang “On Eagle’s Wings” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” “Old Rugged Cross” was the congregational hymn.
Mildred’s great-grandchildren were honorary casket bearers.
Casket bearers were Scott Feltmann, Todd Feltmann, Chad Feltmann, Christopher Feltmann, Corey Feltmann, Charles Wilkens, and David Smith
