Roger E. Feltmann Obituary – 5/15/2015


Roger Edward Feltmann, age 71, of Lester Prairie, passed away Friday May 15, 2015, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.

He was born Feb. 9, 1944, in Young America, the son of Elmer and Adeline (Goede) Feltmann. Roger was baptized Feb. 20, 1944, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Young America by the Rev. Raedeke.

Roger had attended country grade school, St. John’s Lutheran School, and was a graduate of the Central High School.

He served in the United States Army Reserve for six years, receiving his honorable discharge in November of 1970.

Roger was united in marriage with Elaine Schug April 30, 1971, at the Church of the Ascension in Norwood, by Father Russel.

Roger began his working career in his younger years by helping area farmers, and setting pins at the bowling alley. After graduating high school, he worked at Tonka Toys for 12 years, and had a couple of other jobs prior to beginning his 33-year career as a machinist for Nilfisk Advance.

Throughout his working life, Roger enjoyed farming the most.

He also enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing, and attending auctions. The highlight of his week was going to the Hutchinson Sale Barn.

Roger was a member of the YA Hunt Club. He loved going to the daily coffee hour with his friends, as well as watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. He also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, attending their sporting events and concerts; and looked forward to family get-togethers.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Adeline Feltmann; brother Gerald Feltmann; father-in-law and mother-in-law Wilfred and Virginia Schug; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law LeRoy Schneewind, Delbert “Butch” and Joyce Schug, Gerald Meuffels, Duane “Jim” and Mary Louise Schug, and Wilfred Schug Jr.

He is survived by his loving family: wife Elaine Feltmann; children Troy (Lisa) Feltmann, Tad (Tanya) Feltmann, and Tracy (Doug) Albers, all of Lester Prairie; and grandchildren Adam and Hope Feltmann, Marcus and Morgan Feltmann, and Brooke and Michael Albers.

Roger is further survived by a brother, Doug (Sandy) Feltmann of Aitkin; sisters Linda (Ken) Koehnen of Cologne, and Brenda (Gary) Grimm of Norwood Young America; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Bev Feltmann of Norwood Young America, Darlene Schneewind, Dolores Meuffels, both of Waconia; Allen and Pat Schug of Watertown, and Jim and Lois Hendricks of Watertown; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

The funeral service took place Tuesday, May 19 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America with the Rev. David Winter officiating. Interment was in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Norwood Young America.

There was visitation Monday, May 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.; and continuing Tuesday one hour prior to the service.

Casket bearers were Adam Feltmann, Marcus Feltmann, Lee Feltmann, Jamie Feltmann, Rob Koehnen and Brian Grimm. Honorary casket bearers were Hope Feltmann, Morgan Feltmann, Brooke Albers, and Michael Albers.
