Jace Barry Ferrell, age 73, of Apple Valley, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Regions Hospital of St. Paul.
He was born Sept. 14, 1941, in Cokato, to Guy and Iryne (Dietrich) Ferrell.
Jace attended the Minnesota School for the Deaf in Faribault, graduating in 1962. He was very athletic, participating in basketball, track, and football.
He continued his education at Dunwoody Institute, graduating from the baking program in 1963.
Jace worked at bakeries in Annandale and Rockford. He was most recently employed at Hilton Garden Inn in Shoreview and Eagan.
While living in downtown Minneapolis, Jace had attended Wesley United Methodist Church. He moved to Apple Valley in September 2014, and attended Summit Church of St. Paul.
Jace enjoyed reading, walking, and watching all sports, and traveled to the 1973 Deaf Olympics in Malmo, Sweden.
He volunteered with Volunteers of America at Nicollet Towers in Minneapolis, and Wesley United Methodist Church.
Jace is survived by brothers and sisters: Gary (Anne) Ferrell, Lori (Ronald) Seden, Bryan Ferrell, Michael (Joni) Ferrell, and Luann (Thomas) Zumwalde; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
A memorial service took place Saturday, May 16 at 11 a.m. at Summit Church in St. Paul, with private interment at Sylvan Cemetery of Howard Lake.
