Alvina R. Fiecke, age 85, of Winsted, passed away Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
She was born Oct. 16, 1929, in Foley, the daughter of Tom and Mary Hennek. Alvina was baptized at St. Lawrence Parish in Duelm.
She graduated from Foley High School in 1947, and later from St. Cloud Hospital School of Nursing in 1950.
Alvina was joined in holy marriage with Lawrence Fiecke Jan. 13, 1962, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with seven children.
Alvina practiced nursing at St. Cloud Hospital, the University of Iowa, Los Angeles, CA, the University of Minnesota, and St. Mary’s Hospital and Clinic in Winsted.
She was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted; as well as a member of St. Anne’s Society, CCW, Winsted American Legion Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, and served as chairman of the bloodmobile for 15 years.
Alvina is survived by her loving children: Larry (Jackie) Fiecke of Winsted, Michelle Fremling (friend Rob Sunde) of Duluth, Kris (Charlie) Birkholz of Montrose, Jean (Mike) Holslin of St. Michael, Charles Fiecke, and Jeff Fiecke, both of Winsted; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, in 1990; an infant son, Stephen; her parents, Tom and Mary Hennek; a sister, Marian Anderson; brothers Raymond LaVigne, LeRoy Hennek and Goodwin Hennek; brothers-in-law Dick Lano, Cyril Wolter, and Calvin Anderson; and by a sister-in-law, Techla Hennek.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted with Father Paul Schumacher as the celebrant. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Visitation was Monday, Feb. 23 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.; and continued Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, prior to the Mass.
Casket bearers were Bruce Anderson, Tom Hoffmann, Raymond Wolter, Daniel Hennek, Bill Lano, and Michael Fiecke.
