Gerald “Jerry” Gast, age 64, of Howard Lake, passed away Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
He was born Nov. 10, 1950, in Watertown, to Raymond and Charlotte (Anderson) Gast.
Jerry was baptized Nov. 26, 1950, and confirmed at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown.
Gerald was joined in holy marriage with Suzanne Hartje June 23, 1979, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown. God blessed their marriage with three children, Chad, Valarie and Brenda.
Jerry drove semi trucks for many years. Then he worked for Lupient Oldsmobile, where he was able to retire after 30 years.
Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, chopping wood for the fireplace, model trains, western movies, muscle cars, and going to car shows.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Suzanne; children Chad (Nicole) Hartje of Rosemount, and their children: Ashlyn, Taya, and Malia; Valarie (Ben) Lauzer of St. Cloud, and their children: Andrew and Jacob; Brenda (Nick) Rasset of Winsted, and children Devon and Coleton; a sister, Lynda (Mike) Zabel of Delano and her children Adam Barfknecht, and Corey (Sara) Barfknecht and their children Cody, Layna, and Ava; along with numerous cousins, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Charlotte Gast.
A memorial service took place Saturday, Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted with Father Tony Stubeda officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
