Margaret Mary Hanson, age 71, of Montrose, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
She was born Jan. 17, 1944, in Moline, IL to Lyman and Margeurite Weaver.
Margaret attended Alleman High School in Rock Island, IL. After graduating high school, she went on to nursing school.
Upon completion of nursing school, she worked as an RN for the University of Minnesota Hospital, and later became a home health care nurse.
Margaret and Robert Hanson were united in marriage Oct. 17, 1970, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline, IL. The two had met at a Catholic singles group in the Dominic Club in Minnesota. They were blessed with three sons.
Margaret was an active member of Holy Name of Jesus in Medina, and presently at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Waverly. She served as a eucharistic minister and prayed the rosary at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Howard Lake.
Margaret adored her grandchildren greatly, and was a big supporter in her sons’ and grandchildren’s sports careers.
She enjoyed reading and was involved in a book club, spending time at the family cabin, and watching baseball.
Margaret is survived by her sons, Christopher (Hayley) Hanson, and Jeffrey Hanson; grandchildren Christine, Nicholas, Joshua, and Natalie; brother Thomas (Cecele) Weaver; sister Louise Winkler; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hanson; a son, Steven Hanson; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Winkler.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, April 9 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Waverly; with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Interment was at Holy Name of Jesus Cemetery in Medina.
There was also visitation Wednesday, April 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel of Buffalo, with a prayer service and rosary at 7:30 p.m.
