Barbara J. Hoese Obituary – 6/29/2015


Barbara Jean Hoese, age 71, of Watertown, passed away Monday, June 29, 2015, at the Elim Home in Watertown.

She was born Oct. 21, 1943, in Watertown, the daughter of Gregory and Laura (Hasse) Truwe. Barbara was baptized Nov. 1, 1943, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer by the Rev. M.F. Rische; and confirmed April 14, 1957 by the same.

Barbara was united in marriage to Dennis D. Hoese June 8, 1963, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mayer by the Rev. Marxhausen.

Barbara was the beloved wife to Dennis for 52 years. Together, they raised six sons and farmed just outside of Watertown until 1993.

Barbara cherished her family, especially her grandchildren. She thoughtfully sewed them numerous blankets for Christmas gifts and high school graduations.

She was especially proud of the title, great-grandma. She spent many mornings making potato pancakes, which was a favorite for her sons and grandchildren.

Barbara spent hours putting jigsaw puzzles together and hanging her art work in her home. In recent years, Barbara and Dennis enjoyed trips to Duluth, Branson, and Omaha, creating many memories.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Gregory and Laura Truwe; and father-in-law Orvin Hoese.

She is survived by her loving family: husband Dennis; sons and daughters-in-law, Joel and Susann Hoese of Watertown, Steven and Debbie Hoese of Howard Lake, Lyle and Rory Hoese of Norwood, Jay and Carrey Hoese of Silver Lake, Nathan and Julie Hoese of Mayer, and Nicholas and Mollie Hoese of Watertown; grandchildren Benjamin Hoese, Alexander Hoese, Elizabeth Hoese, Alexandra Hoese, Brittany (Nic) Cullen, Brooke Hoese, Jordan Hoese, Hank Hoese, Tyler Hoese, Dalton Hoese, Chase Hoese, Kylie Hoese, Laura Hoese, and Blake Hoese; and great-grandchildren Kayson Hoese, and Emma Cullen.

Barbara is further survived by sisters and brothers, Carol (Roger) Allrich of Osceola, WI, Dennis (Sharon) Truwe of St. Francis, Gary (Faye) Truwe of Indianapolis, IN, and Lonna (Dennis) Kruschke of Glencoe; mother-in-law Lenora Hoese of Watertown; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Loran and Lois Hoese of Watertown, and Erland and Linda Hoese of Howard Lake; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Her funeral service took place Thursday, July 2 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. Paul Krentz officiating.Interment was at Watertown Public Cemetery.

There was visitation Wednesday, July 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continued Thursday, one hour prior to the service.

Casket bearers were Barbara’s sons, Joel Hoese, Steven Hoese, Lyle Hoese, Jay Hoese, Nathan Hoese, and Nicholas Hoese.
