Kristi Lynn Hoffman, age 48, of Hutchinson, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at her home, surrounded by family.
Kristi was born Oct. 8, 1966, in Madison, the daughter of Aldon “Boise” and Janice “Chee Chee” (Mortenson) Halvorson. She was baptized as an infant Nov. 6, 1966, and confirmed in her faith as a youth April 4, 1982, both at Faith Lutheran Church in Madison.
Kristi received her education in Madison, and was a graduate of the Madison High School class of 1985. She furthered her education by attending Southwest State University in Marshall, and received a bachelor’s degree in education.
Kristi was united in marriage to Greg Martin Aug. 11, 1990, in Madison. This marriage was blessed with three children.
Kristi was united in marriage to Josh Hoffman March 26, 2006, in Las Vegas, NV. Kristi and Josh resided in Hutchinson, and made a home for their shared children, Zach, Gabbie, Hunter, Sophie and Jackson. They spent 11 years together, and shared nine years of marriage.
Kristi held employment as a teacher for the Hutchinson Public School system. Most recently, she was a kindergarten teacher at West Elementary School. She was passionate about her students and cared for them deeply.
She was a member of River of Hope Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. Kristi was also a member of the Crow River Golf Club.
Kristi’s primary focus in life was being a great mother to her boys and step-daughters. She would rarely miss any of her children’s events.
She enjoyed walking, spending time at the lake with family, golfing with her husband, Josh; and spending time with friends. She loved traveling and adventures, and cherished the time she spent with her husband and children.
Kristi fought her courageous battle with cancer with faith, hope, and love.
She is survived by her husband, Joshua Hoffman of Hutchinson; children, Zach Martin, Hunter Martin, Jackson Martin, Gabbie Hoffman and Sophie Hoffman; parents, Aldon “Boise” and Janice “Chee Chee” Halvorson of Madison; a brother, Terry Halvorson and his wife, Terri of Madison; father-in-law and mother-in-law Donn and Pamela Hoffman of Litchfield; sister-in-law Sara Johnson and her husband, Thad of Litchfield; brothers-in-law Jay Hoffman and his wife, Cindy of Litchfield, and Jeremy Hoffman and his wife, Laura of North Oaks; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service took place Monday, Aug. 3 at 11 a.m. at the River of Hope Lutheran Church at the Hutchinson Event Center in Hutchinson. The Rev. Laura Aase officiated; Jim Nelson was the pianist; and soloist Marc Vaillancourt sang “I Can Only Imagine.” Congregational hymns were “How Great Thou Art,” “Down To The River To Pray,” and “Blessed Assurance.” The eulogy was given by Kim Lund. Readers were Sara Johnson, Lori Haffley, and Chelsey Naab.
Honorary bearers were Chris Kuball, Lori Haffley, Russell Nathe, Dan Carlson, Gina Carlson, Chelsey Schumaci, Matt Jensen, Abrah Renning, Ryan Alsleben, and Tami Zurbay.
