Ella M. Ide, 93

Ella Meta (Dittmer) Ide, age 93, of Lester Prairie, passed away Monday, April 27, 2015, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care.

She was born March 25, 1922, in Arlington, the daughter of William and Emma (Bullert) Dittmer. Ella was baptized as an infant April 16, 1922, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth May 5, 1936, both by the Rev. R. Heidmann at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington.

She attended school through the eighth grade at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Parochial School in Arlington.

Ella was united in marriage to Walter Ide March 22, 1945, by the Rev. John Bradtke at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington.

Ella and Walter made their home on the Ide family farm in Bergen Township, Lester Prairie. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Wallace, Sandra, Douglas and Michael. Ella and Walter shared over 56 years of marriage until Walter passed away June 20, 2001.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, Ella helped Walter on the Ide family farm.

She was an active member at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.

Ella enjoyed helping on the farm, quilting, cooking, baking, and gardening, especially her irises. She cherished the time spent with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ella is survived by her children, Wallace Ide and his wife, Susan, of Lester Prairie, Sandra Otto of Winsted, Douglas Ide and his wife, Bridget, of Hutchinson, and Michael Ide of Lester Prairie; 10 grandchildren, Tammy Mathews and her husband, Kevin, of Glencoe, Todd Ide and his special friend, Cheryl, of Geneva, Tricia Gueningsman and her husband, Andrew, of Winsted, Teresa Schimek and her husband, Dean, of Easton, Brian Otto and his wife, Jodi, of Milladore, WI, Christine Stoltenow and her husband, Mike, of Green Field, Andrew Ide and his wife, Georgia, of Washington, Nick Ide and his wife, Rachel, of Vermont, Joshua Ide and his wife, Katie, of Bloomington, and Sarah Lambert and her husband, Jerad, of Mahtowa; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.

In addition to her husband, Walter, Ella was preceded in death by her parents, William and Emma Dittmer: brothers and sisters, Albert Dittmer and his wife, Anna, Esther Mueller and her husband, Arnold, Elmer Dittmer and his wife, Elva, Verna Ruehling and her husband, Earl, and Harvey Dittmer and his wife, Hattie; and sisters-in-law Malinda Klaustermeier and her husband, Elmer, Rosella Bahr and her husband, Otto, and Orvilla Luehrs and her husband, Ferdinand.

Funeral services took place Friday, May 1 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, with interment following in the church cemetery. The Rev. Travis Loeslie officiated, and Nancy Buckentine was the organist. Congregational hymns included “Just As I Am,” “Amazing Grace,” “Let Me Be Thine Forever,” and “Abide With Me.”

Casket bearers were Todd Ide, Kevin Mathews, Dean Schimek, Joshua Ide, Mike Stoltenow, Brian Otto, Jerad Lambert, and Nick Ide.
