Larry Dean Jacobs, age 72, of Howard Lake, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.
He was born March 22, 1943, in Madison, SD.
Following graduation from Madison High School, Larry enlisted in the United States Navy.
Following his service in the Navy, he attended college at General Beadle College in Madison, SD.
Larry was united in marriage to Nancy Holdorf April 22, 1967, in Brentford, SD. Larry and Nancy were blessed with the birth of three boys. They made their life together in Howard Lake.
Larry received his teaching degree in 1968. He taught at Dassel-Cokato Schools until he retired in 2002.
An avid outdoorsman, Larry spent many hours working on his yard and garden, as well as hunting and fishing with friends and family. Larry particularly enjoyed time spent with his seven grandchildren, whom he all called “George.”
Larry was preceded in death by his father, John Jacobs; mother Dorothy Christenson; brother Doug Jacobs; and step-father Vernon “Bumper” Christenson.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Bill (Linda), Jason (Sara), and Chris (Briana); grandchildren Ambriel, Ariana, Grace, Emily, Lucy, Wyatt, and Kade; and a sister, Marcella (Jim) Gregerson.
A celebration of Larry’s life took place Saturday, May 16 at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Howard Lake.
Visitation was Friday, May 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake; and continued Saturday, one hour prior to the services at the church.
