Ruth Marie Knapp, age 81, of Coon Rapids, formerly of Waverly, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015.
Ruth was born May 10, 1933, in Salt Lake City, UT, the daughter of Arthur and Alvira (Jensen) Kallman.
She was joined in holy marriage to William W. Knapp III Dec. 20, 1952, at The 1st Covenant Church in Minneapolis. God blessed their marriage with four children.
Ruth worked as a secretary for Industrial Spray Painting in Fridley, and ultimately took on her full-time role as mother.
She played softball for many years, and enjoyed riding motorcycles, as well.
Upon retirement, Ruth and Bill moved to Branson, MO, where they built a home. They loved it there, and Ruth worked at a resort ,welcoming people.
Ruth was friendly, outgoing, and loved to make people comfortable. Her forte was talking. She was always concerned about others, including their families.
An active member of her church, Ruth’s faith was the most important thing in her life and for her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William W. Knapp III; a daughter, Julie Benson; parents Arthur and Alvira Kallman; and a brother, Rodney Kallman.
Ruth is survived by her children, Dana Lawrence, Judy (Tim) Ernst, and Janelle Hartness; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings Ralph Kallman, Maurice (Lois) Kallman, and Maurine (Charles) Tebow; five nieces; four nephews; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was Friday, May 8 at 3 p.m. at Albion Evangelical Free Church in Cokato; with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment was in the Swedish Mission Cemetery in Buffalo.
Ruth’s granddaughters, Harmony Knowles, Molly Pena, Carrie Hoger, Melissa Lind, Megan Clark, and Kaelyn Benson, were honorary casket bearers.
Ruth’s grandsons, David B. Knapp, Andrew Knapp, Ryan Ernst, Justin Ernst, Adam Ernst and Aaron Benson, were casket bearers.
Arrangements were with the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.
