Joseph P. Koppi, age 85, of Mayer, passed away Monday, Sept. 7, 2015, at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
He was born May 2, 1930, in Minneapolis, the son of William and Theresa (Vierling) Koppi.
Joe loved spending time with his horses, pulling his covered wagon. He was a loyal volunteer at the nursing home and at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia.
Joe was a man of deep faith, always putting the Lord before everything else.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Theresa Koppi; brothers and sisters.
Joe is survived by his loving family: children Ginger Koppi of Rogers, Katie (Bob) Paridis of Rochester, Theresa (Brian) Kohn of Howard Lake, Joe (Brenda) Koppi of Howard Lake, John Koppi of Mound, Sue Koppi of Champlin, Paula Koppi of Cokato, Kip Koppi of Las Vegas, and Bill Koppi of Waconia; 31 grandchildren, great-grandchildren; sister Mary Grace Whelan of Minnetonka; nieces, nephews, friends and pets.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Saturday, Sept. 12 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia with Father Bennet Tran as celebrant of the Mass. There was visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church; interment was at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Waconia.
Joe’s grandchildren were his casket bearers: Courtney Clark, Kate Rauh, Bill Brueggemeier, Hallie Koppi, Kristie Badger, Jason Koppi, Alex Koppi-Kohn, and Nathan Brueggemeier.
