Gary Allen Larson, age 68, of Howard Lake, passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015, at his home.
A celebration of Gary’s life will take place Monday, Nov. 2, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Howard Lake.
Gary was born Aug. 14, 1947, in Minneapolis, to Wayne and Marcella (Pesek) Larson. He grew up on the family farm in Canby.
Following graduation from Canby High School, Gary enlisted in the US Army, and received a honorable discharge.
He attended trade school, studying welding and masonry.
Gary was united in marriage to Kathryn Ann Mueller Dec. 7, 1968. The couple made their first home in Minneapolis, then moved to Waverly, and then, Garrison, ND.
The family moved back to Minnesota in 1991, and settled on a small hobby farm outside of Howard Lake.
Gary worked throughout the Twin Cities and North Dakota as a mason until his retirement in 2009. Following the loss of his wife, Gary pursued a business with his passion for dogs. Yellow Lab Kennel was established in 2009, and grew into a canine family with seven dogs and many happy puppies.
Gary spent his last years raising puppies, pheasants, and traveling across the western United States to places he enjoyed.
He is survived by his children, Tiffany A. L. Sipe of Watford City, ND, James G. A. Larson and wife Jodi of Fort Collins, CO, and Curtis S. Loe A. Larson and wife Cassandra of Watford City, ND; grandchildren Dakota Anne K. M. Sipe, and Nicholas and Grace Larson; a sister, Lynn (Dale) Christensen; and a brother, Dale (Sharon) Larson.
In addition to his wife, his parents also preceded him in death.
