Carol A. Maiers, age 80, of Watertown, passed away in her sleep Mothers Day, May 10, 2015.
She was born Dec. 3, 1934.
Carol worked for 30 years at Elim Nursing Home in Watertown. After retirement, she volunteered at the local food shelf, and sang in the choir and was active at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
She was a beautiful and selfless woman who was devoted to her family, and spread joy throughout her community. Her laugh was infectious, and her kind spirit was recognized by all who were blessed to have known her.
Carol and her late husband, Phillip Maiers, raised three daughters and six sons. Her legacy will live on through her family’s endless love and memories.
Carol is survived by her children, Michelle (Peter) Maiers-Atakpu, Mary (Jens Jorgen) Lassen, Mark Maiers, Philip (Mindy) Maiers, David (Kelly) Maiers, Joseph (Debora) Maiers, Paul (Toni) Maiers, Margaret Maiers, and Matt (Ashley) Maiers; 22 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by siblings Dale (Janette) Boklep, Archie Boklep, JoAnne Sullivan, Anthony (Kathy) Hengel, Gerald (Mary Ness) Hengel, and Kathy (Tom) Kidd; and sister-in-law Marge Boklep.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, May 14 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown.
There was visitation Wednesday, May 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church, with a rosary at 3:30 p.m.; and visitation continued Thursday, from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to Mass.
Arrangements were with the Iten’s Watertown Funeral Home.
