James Clayton “Frenchy” Nadeau, Sr., age 79, of Burnsville, and formerly of Rockford, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015.
He was born Aug. 17, 1935, in Hibbing, the son of Clayton and Gladys Allison Nadeau.
James honorably served his country in the United States Navy.
He was formerly employed at Washington Scientific in Long Lake, and at Landscape Structures in Delano.
Jim enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was especially fond of his grandkids, who called him “Grandpa Frenchy.”
He is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Ann Nadeau of Burnsville; children: Anna Webster of Grand Rapids, James C. Nadeau Jr. of Hibbing, Lisa (Brian) St. Martin of Shoreview, Debra (Alan) Keske of Zimmerman, Troy J. (Christine) Nadeau of Andover, and Scott A. (Christy) Nadeau of Maple Grove; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
James is further survived by a brother, Clayton (June) Nadeau of Odum, GA; step children Jim (Patricia) Lobitz Jr. of Mound, June Marie Lobitz of Bloomington, Julie Ann (Dave) Eaton of Shakopee, and Jason A. Lobitz of St. Paul; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Thomas G.; and by a sister, Janice.
A memorial service took place Saturday, July 19, at 7 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery in Buffalo.
