James M. Oeffling, age 76, of Loretto, passed away Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015, surrounded by his family.
He was born March 13, 1939, in Corcoran, to Henry and Angela (Stein) Oeffling.
Jim was a loving dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend; and always willing to help others. He was a very involved grandfather; attending the grandchildren’s sporting and school events.
Jim had a strong Catholic faith, pride of his community, a sense of humor, and a positive, always “glass half full” attitude.
A hard worker, Jim was dedicated to getting the job done.
He loved fishing, visiting over coffee, socializing, and meeting people.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Jean (Vieau); parents; and two siblings, Wayne Goodman and Bette Carstedt.
He is survived by his sons, Scott (Jill) Oeffling, Corey Oeffling, and Kary (Molly) Oeffling; eight grandchildren: Rachel, Sam, Turner, Megan, Dina, Charlie, Talan, and Austin; siblings Jeanne Weber, Joe (Mary Lou) Goodman, Carol (Andy) Pettit, Ellie Ghostley, Nick Oeffling, Helen (Paul) Klapprich, Catherine (Frank) Meister, and Judy (Tom) Arens; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, Aug. 21 11 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Loretto, followed by interment in the church cemetery.
There was visitation Thursday, Aug. 20 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Martha’s Hall of St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano. Visitation continued Friday at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church, in Loretto, from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to Mass.
Arrangements were by the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
