Nancy Ondracek Obituary – 7/14/2015


Nancy Jane Ondracek, age 80, of Silver Lake, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015, surrounded by her family, from complications due to a fall at her apartment July 4, 2015.

She was born Nov. 29, 1934, in Silver Lake, the daughter of Albin and Jane (Merrill) Trutna. Nancy was baptized as an infant, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at the Congregational Church in Silver Lake.

She received her education in Silver Lake, and was a graduate of the Silver Lake High School class of 1951, where she participated in basketball and drama club.

Nancy was united in marriage to Floyd Ondracek Nov. 18, 1952, at the Congregational Church in Silver Lake. This marriage was blessed with three sons, Don, Kim, and Rex.

After Floyd completed his military service, the couple moved to a farm on the west shores of Lake Byron, near Hutchinson. Nancy and Floyd shared 59 years of marriage until Floyd passed away Jan. 2, 2012.

Nancy was employed at Telex Corp in Glencoe, as well as 3M Company in Hutchinson. After retirement from 3M, she helped out on the farm, babysitting and taking care of her grandchildren.

Nancy enjoyed fishing, tending to her flower gardens, traveling, and pulling pranks and jokes on people. She also enjoyed her many pets that she had on the farm, and especially loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.

When Nancy needed assistance with her daily care, she became a resident of Country Manor Apartments in Sartell in September of 2014.

Nancy is survived by two sons, Don Ondracek and his wife, Karen of St. Cloud, and Rex Ondracek of Stephenville, TX; grandchildren Kimysue Johnson and her husband, Ryan of Monticello; Kristy Banks and her husband, Chris of North Judson, IN; Kirk Ondracek and his wife, Jackie; and Kyle Ondracek, all of Hutchinson; Joseph Ondracek and his wife, Erin of West Fargo, ND, and Nikulas Ondracek and his wife, Meghan of Stillwater; as well as great-grandchildren Hunter Ondracek, Fisher Ondracek, Ashley, Gabriella and Dylan Banks; Anne, Paul and Peter Ondracek, and Vivian Ondracek.

She is further survived by a daughter-in-law, Susan (Ondracek) Fisher and her husband, Steve of Hutchinson; a sister, Alice Carol Totusek and her husband, Milton of Silver Lake; a brother, Lyman Trutna of Battle Lake; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Floyd, Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Albin and Jane Trutna; a son, Kim Ondracek; a great-grandson Tyler Banks; and a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Trutna.

A gathering of family and friends took place Sunday, July 19 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Dobratz-Hantge Chapel in Hutchinson.

Arrangements were with the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson. Memorials are preferred to the Animal Humane Society.
