Harry F. Pawelk, age 94, of New Germany, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Harry was born Jan. 22, 1921, in Camden Township, Carver County, the son of Herman and Anna (Latzig) Pawelk. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany.
Harry was united in marriage to Darleen Zellmann Oct. 27, 1951, at the parsonage in Young America.
Harry loved to go fishing, and tend to his garden. He was always tinkering with anything that was broken.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Anna Pawelk; a son, Wesley Pawelk; a daughter, Joyce Pawelk; a sister Lorena Karels; brothers Walter, Clarence, Raymond and Dennis Pawelk; and an infant sister, Elda.
Harry is survived by his loving family: wife Darleen; sons Ralph Pawelk of New Ulm, and Duane Pawelk of Elysian; daughter Brenda (Mark) Mason of St. Bonifacius; grandchildren Cathy Mason, Amanda Mason, Joshua (Ashley) Mason, Jeremiah Mason, Daniel (Mindy) Mason, Noah Mason, Faith Mason, Emily (Tim) Johanneck, Ian Pawelk, Meagan Pawelk, Ruth Pawelk, and Billy Pawelk; and great-grandchildren Mason, Riley, Evan, Clara, Indy, Elly, Mia, Nygel, Cyrus, and Cecelia.
He is further survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Arlys Pawelk of New Germany, Clarence and Darlene Zellmann, Donald and Elaine Zellmann, and Cliff and Delphine Zellmann, all of Norwood Young America; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service took place Friday, July 24 at 2 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, with the Rev. Helmar Heckel officiating. There was visitation from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment was at Crow River Cemetery in New Germany.
Harry’s grandsons, Ian Pawelk, Billy Pawelk, Joshua Mason, Jeremiah Mason, Daniel Mason, and Noah Mason, were his casket bearers.
