Florence Rannow Obituary – 11/24/2015


Florence Mary Rannow, age 91, of Silver Lake, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.

She was born Feb. 28, 1924, in Winsted Township, the daughter of Louis and Victoria (White) Sherman.

Florence went to the Holy Trinity Grade School, and graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1942.

Florence and George Rannow were united in marriage Nov. 14, 1944, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Winsted.

The couple lived on a farm in Silver Lake. God blessed their marriage with three children: Bruce, Nancy, and Lori.

Florence was employed at Sherman Station and Tonka Toys for many years.

She enjoyed gardening, shopping, polka dancing, and was famous for her good cooking.

Florence is survived by her children, Bruce Rannow, Nancy Magouirk, and Lori Sheffield/David Irby; grandchildren Lyle Hoff, Carrie Hoff, Joseph Sheffield, Jacquelyn Sheffield, Crystal Sheffield, Brittiany Hoff, and Benjamin Hoff; great-grandchildren Jasmine Hoff, Lillie Sheffield, and Katherine Irby; a sister, Marietta Neumann; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Rannow, who passed away Feb. 17, 1990; her parents, Louis and Victoria Sherman; a grandson, David Sheffield; sisters Mildred (Maurice) Waldoch, and Dolores Sherman; brothers Arthur Sherman, Philip Sherman, and Eugene (Leonore) Sherman; parents-in-law Frank and Katherine Rannow; and brothers-in-law David (Helen) Rannow, and Marvin Neumann Sr.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Monday, Nov. 30 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake, officiated by Father Paul Schumacher.
