Christena Rozenberg, 100

Christena Lubertha Rozenberg, age 100, of Howard Lake, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015, at the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Care Center.

A gathering of family and friends will take place Sunday, March 22 at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Howard Lake, with visitation beginning one hour prior to the services.

Memorials preferred to the First Presbyterian Church in Howard Lake.

Christena was born Aug. 27, 1914, in Maple Lake Township the daughter of Henry and Jennie (Mol) Dykhuizen. She was baptized June 6, 1915, by the Rev. Bernard Lammers; instructed in the Reformed Catechism, and confirmed in the Christian faith by the Rev. Harry Van Egmond Dec. 9, 1930.

Christena was joined in holy marriage to Albert Rozenberg Sept. 9, 1936, in a double wedding with her twin sister, Henrietta and husband, Reynold Klemz. This ceremony was performed by the Rev. Harry Van Egmond, and took place at Silver Creek Reformed Church. God blessed their marriage with a daughter, Carolyn Joanne.

Christena was a farmer and homemaker, who loved growing flowers, gardening, embroidery, and fishing. She was active in church activities at both Silver Creek and the First Presbyterian Church in Howard Lake.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brothers and sisters, Simon, Albert, Henry, Gerrit, Johanna, and Henrietta.

Christena is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (James) Wackler of Howard Lake; grandchildren Mark (Ann) Wackler of Buffalo, Paul Wackler, Mary Marschel, both of Howard Lake, and Ruth (Mike) Young of Waverly; great-grandchildren Tom Young, Christena (Ben) Dickens, all of Mesa, AZ, Jacob (Brittany) Young of Ansbach, Germany, Dan Wackler, Jill Wackler, both of Buffalo, and Hannah Marschel of Howard Lake; great-great-grandsons Bradley Dickens and James Young; very special friend Mary LeVang; and several nieces and nephews.
