Tyyne Ester Saari, age 97, of Cokato, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Cokato Manor.
Tyyne’s love was working alongside her husband, Carl, as lifelong dairy farmers. She was an accomplished quilt maker, seamstress, gardener, and cook, as well as a devoted golf caddy and fishing partner with Carl, her husband of 53 years.
Tyyne is survived by a brother, Albert (Caroline) Mattila; sons Phillip (Karen), and Paul; daughter Barbara Mountain (Wayne); grandchildren Erik and Aliisa Saari, Emily Hepburn, Jennifer Saari, and Stacey and Stephanie Mountain; great-grandsons Caleb and Ethan Saari; many nieces and nephews; and great friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; sisters Elvira (Rudy) Anderson, Ellen (Eric) Torrance, and Mayme (Edward) Dorma; and brothers John (Roby) Mattila, Leonard (Marion) Mattila, Edward (Agnes) Mattila, Henry (Dorothy) Mattila, and Emil (Alice) Mattila.
A memorial service took place Saturday, May 16 at 4:30 p.m. at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home in Cokato, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment was at 7 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to Cokato Manor to benefit residents.
