Gerald “Jerry” Joseph Salonek, age 65, of Montrose, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
There will be a celebration of Jerry’s life/open house Saturday, Oct. 24 from 2 to 5 p.m. at his home, 1690 35th Street SW, Montrose. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Waverly.
Arrangements are with the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.
Jerry was born Feb. 9, 1950, in Watertown, the son of Harold Anthony and Caroline Bertha (Otten) Salonek.
He was a graduate of Buffalo High School.
After graduation, Jerry owned Salonek Roofing for more than 30 years, and then worked for Wright Way Preferred Pallet Shop for 15 years.
Gerald was united in marriage with Betty Ann Muehler in 1983, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Buffalo.
Jerry was an avid hunter especially deer hunting. He enjoyed four-wheeling up north, bonfires, wood working, time spent with family and friends, and most recently, becoming “winter Texans” with Betty.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Caroline Salonek; and an infant brother.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Betty, of Montrose; children, Julie (Dean) Dunnigan of Delano, Michelle (Trevor) Brummer of Cokato, and Brian (Stephanie) Salonek of Buffalo; stepchildren, Geri (Brent) Kowalke, Gene Klatt, and Geni (Sam) Gregorich, all of Buffalo; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He is further survived by siblings, Ken (Judy) Salonek of Huntersville, MN, Ruth Ann (Lowell) Rolfzen, Kathy (Ed) Walker, all of Buffalo, Bill (Robin Phillips) Salonek of Hurley, WI, and Larry (fiancée, Jennifer Volk) Salonek of Montrose; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
