Dorleen Schmieg Obituary – 12/3/2015


Dorleen C. Schmieg, age 82, of Victoria, passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, at the Waconia Good Samaritan Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. at St. Victoria Catholic Church in Victoria with Father Bob White as celebrant of the Mass. Interment will be at St. Victoria Catholic Cemetery.

There will be visitation Monday, Dec. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, and one hour prior to the Mass at the church

Dorleen’s grandchildren will be her casket bearers: Kelly Jensen, Rachael Hovey, Aaron Worm, Ashley Fedie, Tony Schmieg, Jacalyn Schmieg, Melissa Strelow, Conner Dammann, Brennan Schmieg, Amanda Schmieg, and Blake Schmieg.

Dorleen was born Nov. 22, 1933, in Victoria, the daughter of Raymond and Lorraine (Welter) Notermann. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Victoria Catholic Church in Victoria.

Dorleen was united in marriage to Sylvester J. Schmieg Aug. 18, 1951, at St. Victoria Catholic Church in Victoria.

Dorleen was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Schmid; son Daniel Schmieg; parents Raymond and Lorraine Notermann; and father-in-law and mother-in-law Francis and Margaret Schmieg.

She is survived by her loving family: husband Sylvester Schmieg of Waconia; children Donna (Bob) Lubbers of Chanhassen, Duane (Marilyn) Schmieg of Chaska, Debbie (Mark) Worm of Montgomery, Doug (Brenda) Schmieg of Victoria, Denise (Jerry) Fedie of Chanhassen, Dean Schmieg of Carver, Delbert (Heidi) Schmieg of Winsted, Dion (Kathi) Schmieg of Carver, Dawn (Chris) Dammann of Victoria, Daryl (Trina) Schmieg of Victoria, Dana (Tasha) Schmieg of Cologne, and David (Jael) Schmieg of Glencoe; 33 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Dorleen is further survived by brothers and sisters Walter (Laurie) Notermann of Excelsior, Marcia (James) Rasmussen of Cedar, Dalles (Karen) Notermann of Victoria, Muriel Trute of Buffalo, Joyce (Roger) Geis of Bradford, PA, Ray (Lisa) Notermann of Chaska, Marguerite Wedel of Maple Grove, and Linnea Notermann and Phil Volby of Excelsior; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Beatrice Mechtel of Victoria, Rosie and Leonard Rotzein of Alexandria, Lorna Schmieg of St. Louis Park, and Frances Schmieg of Victoria; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
