Harold W. Schwalbe age 88 of Waconia passed away on Wednesday Dec. 16, 2015 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

Funeral Service will take place Tuesday Dec. 22, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church (601 East Second Street), Waconia with Rev. Phil Wagner officiating; visitation one hour prior to the service on Tuesday; interment Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

Harold was born Jan. 26, 1927 in Laketown Twp., Carver County, son of Paul and Louise (Hasse) Schwalbe. Harold was baptized June 14, 1942 at Gotoholm Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown by Rev. N. William Anderson.

May 8, 1948 Harold was united in marriage to Lorraine J. Klemz at Zion Lutheran Church in Silver Creek by Rev. Martin Hauser.

Harold and Lorraine rented 60 acres between Mayer and Watertown. Starting their family with the first four children Kenny, Chery, Connie and Joannie. After Connie got lost in the corn field, mom said that was enough and they decided to build a home in Waconia where their fifth child Janice was born.

We’re not sure what they were thinking when they only had a two bedroom home and then added three more children Mark, Jim and Bev.

Dad took a job at the Creamery in Waconia for a couple of years where the older kids were able to bring, and have lunch with him.

In early 1960, dad became a jobber for Standard Oil where he delivered furnace oil, gas, and diesel fuel to area homes, and farmers making many acquaintances.

He put in very long days; we’re not sure if business was good, or if he just knew there were eight kids back at home.

In 1985 dad had his first stroke after which he was unable to make deliveries, but this did not stop him from making it to the dance hall every Saturday night to enjoy dancing with friends and sister and brother-in-law Verna and Roy.

Dad always had a song in his heart, a whistle on his lips, a joke to share and a smile on his face.

In 1973, Dad and Mom purchased a cabin in Outing MN where Dad loved to go and putter. He loved snowmobiling, fishing and just being outdoors. We all have many fond remembers of family gatherings at the cabin.

In the last few years Dad suffered from dementia, and was very frustrated with not being able to remember names of his family and friends, but we all know that he is now in the comfort of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and can name everyone of us.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine; grandchildren Laura and Anne Schwalbe, Daniel and Brett Fosmo; parents Paul and Louise Schwalbe; sisters Loretta (Vernon) Jopp, Irene (Alden) Jopp, Anita (Wilbert) Zastrow, Verna (Roy) Ketcher; brother Hilton (Lyla) Schwalbe; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Arthur (Clara) Klemz, and Eleanor (Ambrose) Lundstrom.
