Winslow Sinkel Obituary – 6/5/2015


Winslow “Winnie” Fred Sinkel, age 88, of Delano, passed away peacefully in his home Friday, June 5, 2015.

He was born Aug. 19, 1926 in Hennepin County, to John and Ruth (Pearson) Sinkel.

Winnie served in World War II in the Navy.

He was a devoted fire fighter, serving his community more than 40 years, 31 of which he was fire chief of Delano.

He was also an active member of the Delano American Legion Post 377, as well as serving on the Delano Fourth of July Committee.

Winnie had a great passion for fishing, hunting, and golfing.

Winnie was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Metz) Sinkel; and brothers, Leroy and Jack.

He is survived by his soul mate, Sheila; children, Robert (Judy) Sinkel, Tom Sinkel, Rick (Jeannie) Sinkel, Susie (Terry) Stender; grandchildren, Deanna Roelke, Elijah Sinkel, Aaron (Alissa) Sinkel, Jesse (Nicole) Sinkel, Lynne (Tristen) Griffin, Denise Sinkel, Nicole Sinkel, Dan Sinkel, Josh Stender, Shelby Stender; great grandchildren, Samantha, Nakeyia, Shania, Preston, Nathan, Lucia, Ella, Jonah, Miles and Max; and sister, Joyce (Jim) Janicula.

Mass of Christian burial took place Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 11 a.m., at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano.

Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, with Firemen’s Walk-through at Martha’s Hall of St. Peter Catholic Church at 7 p.m. .Visitation continued Wednesday, June 10 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Martha’s Hall.

Interment with military honors was in Calvary Cemetery in Delano.

Arrangements were with Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
