Georgia Jean Nado Smith, age 81, of Cokato, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015, at the Heritage Place in Cokato.
She was born in Waubay, SD, and was married to Duane M Smith for 60 years. The couple resided in Chanhassen for over 50 years, where they raised their three sons.
Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; and her sister, Sybil.
She is survived by her sons, Ron (Cindy) of Massillon, OH, Roger of Canton, SD, and Todd (Trudi) of Cokato; grandsons Jarid (Kezia) of Rochester, and Nathan (Brittney) of Sioux Falls, SD, and their daughter Charlotte.; and step grandchildren Angela (Greg) Swanson of Otsego, and their children Madilyn, Brylee, and Emily; and Tara Storts of Monticello.
She is further survived by two sisters, Jewel Wattier of Sioux Falls, SD, and Gloria (Charles) Gilbertson of Moorhead; and many nieces and nephews.
Georgia worked for many years at the Excelsior bakery, and then at K-Mart, where she worked in the office. After her retirement from K-Mart, she always had a helping hand for her friends, who she loved very much.
She was very involved in her children’s, grandchildren’s, and step grandchildren’s lives. Georgia will be greatly missed by her family.
Funeral services took place Wednesday, Dec. 2 at noon at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Cokato. Interment was at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
