Karen Mary Strasmann, age 72, of Lester Prairie, passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
She was born Sept. 9, 1943, as a United States citizen in Colon, Republic of Panama, the daughter of Henry and Bernadette (Bruner) Miller. Karen was baptized in 1943, in Colon, and was confirmed in 1948, at St. Therese’s Church in Mapleton, MN.
Karen grew up in Gibbon, where she received her education and was a graduate of the Gibbon High School class of 1960.
Karen was united in marriage to Roy Strasmann July 10, 1965, at the Catholic church in Brookings, SD. They were blessed with two sons, Thomas and Todd.
Karen and Roy made their home in Lester Prairie. They shared 51 years of marriage.
Karen was employed as a quality control inspector at Eaton Corporation, retiring in 2007.
She was a tireless supporter of charitable organizations benefitting veterans, animals, and needy children.
Karen enjoyed sewing, shopping, crocheting, and tending to her gardens. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Strasmann; her sons, Thomas Strasmann and his wife, Elise, and Todd Strasmann; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Yolaine (Miller) Sondergaard and her husband, Owen of Phoenix, AZ, and Bernadette (Miller) Reid of Minneapolis; and many other relatives and friends.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Bernadette Miller.
A gathering of family and friends took place Saturday, Sept. 19 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Dobratz-Hantge Chapel in Hutchinson.
