Paul Vernon Strehlke, age 55, of Acworth, GA, formerly of New Germany, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015, in Georgia.
There will be a funeral service Monday, March 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany, with the Revs. LeRoy LaPlant and Ron Mathison officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Casket bearers will be David Remer, Carly Karg, Aleks Strehlke, Erich Strehlke, Mark Strehlke, James Strehlke, Chad Ricco, Ken Hammerlund, Nathan Presler.
Honorary casket bearers will be his grandchildren, and his nieces, Megan and Kate Strehlke.
Visitation was Sunday, March 22 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, and will continue Monday at the church, one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to American Heart Association, Lutheran High, or donor’s choice.

Paul was born Jan. 2, 1960, in Watertown, the son of Vernon and Darlene (Karg) Strehlke. He was baptized Jan. 17, 1960, at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Hollywood Township by the Rev. AmEnd. Paul was confirmed in his faith May 19, 1974, at the same church by the Rev. Vogel. His Confirmation verse was John 8:31b-32 (NIV) Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Paul was a graduate of Mayer Lutheran High School, class of 1978. He was a devoted church member who sang in the choir and had served on the board of education of the St. Mark-St. John Lutheran School for six years.
Paul was a trumpeter in high school, and had later played with the Polka Sons of Praise. He was an avid farmer, and was also a partner of the Bayrischer Hof Restaurant in Montrose.
He enjoyed softball and baseball, and through his playing career was called Paul “Grubby” Strehlke.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, Vernon F. Strehlke; and grandparents Martin and Malinda Strehlke and Carl and Joyce Karg.
He is survived by his loving family: wife Kathy Pronk of Acworth, GA; children Jessica (Jacob) Hindermann of Montrose, Nicole (Jacob) Baumann of Mayer, and Vanessa (Joseph) Blackketter of Watertown; grandchildren Gabriel, Isaac, Dawson, Jaxton, and Camryn; former wife Barbara Strehlke of New Germany; step-children Maarten Pronk, Anneke Pronk, and Julius Pronk; mother Darlene Strehlke of New Germany; brothers Mark Strehlke of New Germany, and James (Joni) Strehlke of Mayer; nieces and nephews Aleks, Erich, Megan, and Kate; aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.
