Lorraine Tersteeg, 91

Lorraine Mary Tersteeg, age 91, of Osakis, formerly of Dassel, passed away Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015.

She was born Nov. 30, 1923, in Beloit, Rock County, WI, the daughter of Edward and Agnes (Toomey) Kuppe. Lorraine was baptized as an infant, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at St. Judes Roman Catholic Church in Beloit. She received her education in Beloit, and was a graduate of Beloit Catholic High School.

Lorraine was united in marriage to Andrew Stephen Ross July 7, 1942, at St. Judes Roman Catholic Church in Beloit, WI. This marriage was blessed with six children.

Lorraine and Andrew resided in Columbia Heights. Lorraine enjoyed her role supporting Andrew while he was in the Army, accounting, and as conductor/brakeman for the Soo Line Rail Road. They shared 16 years of marriage until Andrew passed away March 9, 1957.

Lorraine was united in marriage to Raymond Tersteeg April 8, 1960, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hopkins. This marriage was blessed with four children. Lorraine and Raymond resided in Hopkins, Eden Prairie, New Germany, Eagle Bend, St. Michael, Dassel, and Cosmos, before moving to Hutchinson Township, McLeod County in 2001. They shared 47 years of marriage until Raymond passed away July 17, 2006.

Lorraine was a loving wife, mother, homemaker, and partner in Raymond’s entrepreneurial endeavers.

She attended St. John’s Catholic Church in Darwin.

Lorraine was a member of Eagle Bend VFW Post 6318, and the Clarissa Council of Catholic Women (CCW).

Lorraine enjoyed driving, dancing, reading, and listening to music. She loved to bake pies, and was known as the “Pie Lady.” She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, and friends.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Kathy Guibert and her husband, Christian of Hudson, WI, Pat Kramer and her husband, Gene of Osakis, Karen Mortrud and her husband, Lee of Austin, TX, Andy Ross and his wife, Holly of Hutchinson, Bill Ross and his wife, Sue of Cottage Grove, John Tersteeg and his wife, Roxanne of Ramsey, George Tersteeg and his wife, Debbie of Nelson, and Bradley Tersteeg and his wife, Julie of South Range, WI; daughter-in-law Patti Ross of Bella Vista, AR; 36 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She is further survived by a sister, Jeanne Walsh of Coarsegold, CA; brothers Chuck Kuppe and his wife, Pat of Rockford, IL, and John Kuppe and his wife, Marilyn of Sun City, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husbands, Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Agnes Kuppe; sons Mike Ross, and Raymond Tersteeg, II; and a grandson, Raymond Tersteeg, III.

Funeral services took place Wednesday, Sept. 23 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Darwin, followed by interment in the church cemetery.

There was visitation for one hour prior to the services at the church.

The Hantge Funeral Chapel in Darwin handled the arrangements.
