Marjorie Adeline Torblaa, age 93, of Delano, went to be with her Lord Monday, Sept. 7, 2015.
She was born Feb. 5, 1922, in Grafton, ND, the daughter of Walter and Adeline (Britnell) Schneider.
Marjorie attended school in Grafton, and graduated from high school in 1940.
She married Gordon “Doc” Torblaa, also from Grafton, in 1940. Besides Grafton, Marge and “Doc” lived in Stephen, Blue Earth, and Rockford. They were blessed with five boys: Lon, David, Jon, Mark and Paul.
Marjorie and “Doc” owned and operated The Rockford House from 1954 to 1969, and then moved to Tucson, AZ. Marge was active with the American Legion and the VFW Auxiliary in Tucson, even serving as the VFW Auxiliary president.
Doc passed away in 1979. Marge then moved to Henderson, NV in 2001, to be near her youngest son, Paul. In 2010, Marge moved back to Delano, and resided at the Legacy of Delano.
Marge was the mainstay at The Rockford House, as she worked tirelessly to run the restaurant and her family at the same time. She passed her tremendous work ethic on to all of her boys.
After her working days were over, she enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and walking.
In addition to her husband, “Doc,” Marge was preceded in death by her son, David in 1996.
She is survived by her sons, Lon (Laverne), Jon (Luanne), Mark (Susan), and Paul; daughter-in-law Brenda (David’s widow); 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services took place Sunday, Sept. 13 at 2 p.m. at Cross Lutheran Church in Rockford, with visitation one hour prior to the services at the church.
The Peterson Chapel, Buffalo, assisted the family with arrangements.
