Carol Jean Traen, age 74, of Delano, passed away unexpectedly Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015.
She was born Dec. 15, 1940, in Greenfield, to John and Marie (Scott) Ruppelius.
Carol was an employee of the State Bank of Delano for 44 years.
She played in the same bridge group since 1961, and loved bowling. An active church member, Carol sang in the choir.
She was the heart and soul of her family.
Carol loved going out to the Luce Line Orchard with her family, and never missed the grandkids’ sporting events.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Joseph Traen; two infants, Timothy and Tara; and siblings Kathy (Dan) Lynch and Jim Ruppelius.
She is survived by children Terri (Rich) Pawelk, Tom (LaRae) Traen, Todd Traen and fiancé Shelly Redepenning, and Tracey (Tom) Sangren; grandchildren Reed (Katie) Pawelk, Abigail Pawelk and fiancé Ryan Jirik, Paige (Matt) Lynch, Tommy Traen, Todd Traen, and Camryn Traen; and great-grandchildren Walter Lynch, and Owen and Emmett Pawelk.
Carol is further survived by siblings Jerry (Betty) Ruppelius, Mary (Darwin) Koecher, and Sue (Steve) Stahlke.
Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, April 10 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano, followed by interment in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Delano.
Visitation was Thursday, April 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church, with a 3:30 p.m. rosary service; and continued Friday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., prior to the Mass.
Arrangements were with the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
