Warren Ulrich, 60

Warren George Ulrich, age 60, of Dassel, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the Hutchinson Health Hospital.

He was born June 19, 1954, in Schaller, IA, the son of George and Dorothy (Schmidt) Ulrich. Warren was baptized as an infant in Iowa.

He received his education in Silver Lake, and was a graduate of the Silver Lake High School class of 1972. Warren received the basketball outstanding athlete awards in high school.

He entered active military service in the United States Army in the fall of 1972, and served his country based in Germany. Warren received an honorable discharge in 1976.

He resided in Germany for his service years, then California, and later moved to Hutchinson.

Warren was blessed with one daughter, Jessica.

He was employed as a roofer for 10 years in California. After he moved back to Minnesota, Warren worked for Lester, Inc. Most recently, he was working for RAM Builders, until he was injured on the job, causing him to become disabled.

Warren enjoyed his beloved dog, Coco. He was an avid outdoorsman, and loved to go hunting and fishing with his grandson, Mason. Family was important to him, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Warren is survived by his daughter, Jessica Henke, of Arlington; grandchildren Mason Nemitz and Jada Henke; father, George Ulrich of Sioux Falls, SD; mother, Dorothy Alsleben and her husband, Iven of Silver Lake; a sister, Teresa Olson, and her husband, Gary, of Cornville, AZ; niece and nephew, Justin Olson and Kaylee Hable; his beloved dog, Coco; special friends Josh, Bethany, Brian, Phil, Ben, and Aaron, and other special friends you could always find at his home; along with many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry and Celina Schmidt, and Anton and Margaret Ulrich; step-grandparents Charles and Ella Alsleben; uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Memorial services took place Thursday, May 28, at 10:30 a.m. at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson. Apostolic Minister Paul Messner officiated at the services. Special music was “Wings Of A Dove,” and congregational hymns were “What A Friend We Have In Jesus,” and “Amazing Grace.” Mason Nemitz was the urn bearer.

There was a gathering of family and friends prior to the service, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Military honors were provided by the Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad.
