Elaine H. Wadding Obituary – 3/3/2015


Elaine H. Wadding, age 75, of Watertown, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, March 10 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (505 Westminster Ave.) in Watertown, with the Rev. Paul Krentz officiating. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Danny Pawelk, Joshua Kerwood, Christopher Williams, Justin Markuson, Jesse Aaberg, and Bobby Richardson.

Honorary casket bearers are Elaine’s other grandchildren

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.

Elaine was born Oct. 10, 1939, in French Lake, the daughter of Erick and Effie (Erickson) Opsahl. She was baptized Oct, 14, 1939, at her home; and confirmed May 29, 1955, in Cokato.

She attended Cokato High School.

Elaine was united in marriage to Gary M. Wadding March 10, 1972, in South Dakota.

The couple lived in Watertown since May of 1972, where they raised their eight children.

Elaine was an employee of the Good Samaritan in Waconia for over 20 years. She was also a former member of the St. Paul’s Ladies aid, and a former member of the Waconia VFW Auxiliary.

Elaine enjoyed doing things with her family, and loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren very much. She enjoyed going to Branson, MO with her husband, Gary, and often invited some of their friends and family to go with them. She had traveled to Branson 36 times in her life.

Elaine and Gary did everything together. Elaine was a very social person, and it showed in the number of friends she had.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Erick and Effie Opsahl; daughter Mary Sliva; grandson Adam Markuson; and sisters Norma Opsahl, and Marie Temple.

Elaine is survived by her loving family: husband Gary; children Jerry (Pat) Markuson of Brooklyn Park, Gwen (Jon) Aaberg of Lakeville, Chris (Valerie) Markuson of Fridley, Robin Mochinski of Cologne, Lori (Barry) Pawelk of Montrose, Kevin (Jodi) Markuson of Champlin, and Tom (Anna) Wadding of Pine City; grandchildren Melissa (Jesus) Lopez Sanchez, Brad (Amber) Hoppe, Brian (Kim) Hoppe, Bobbie Aaberg, Jesse Aaberg, Samantha Jobe, Alayna Markuson, Jennifer Mochinski, Toni Mochinski, Joshua Kerwood, Bobby Richardson, Christopher Williams, Crystal Sliva, Angela Sliva, Dan Pawelk and fiancée Alyssa, Casey Pawelk, Justin Markuson, Kayla Markuson, Jenna Lovins, Emily Wadding, Ethan Wadding; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She is further survived by sisters Eleanor Worden of Litchfield, and Mae (Elroy) Schuette of Hutchinson; brother-in-law Dick Temple of South Haven; sister-in-law Marion Morningstar of Wyoming; nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and friends.
