Gloria Carole Beckstrand, age 84, of Delano, passed away Friday, Jan. 1, 2016.
She was born Dec. 26, 1931, in Delano, to Martin and Elizabeth (Plotnik) Libor.
Gloria was a feisty, strong woman whose family meant the world to her.
She graduated from Delano High School, and was married to Andrew Beckstrand for 22 years.
Over the years, she was employed at Tonka Toys, Medtronic/Biomedicus, and Innovex.
Gloria loved to bake wedding cakes as a hobby.
She moved from Delano in 2007, and resided in the Aitkin area until 2012, when she moved back to Delano.
Gloria enjoyed fishing, camping, and casino trips, but most of all, she loved to spend time with her family. She had a special place in her heart for her dogs.
Gloria was preceded in death by her son, Andrew; parents Martin and Elizabeth Libor; sisters Betty and Barbara; a brother; Martin; as well as her longtime friend, of over 70 years, Monica (Schwitalla) Tuckenhagen.
She is survived by her children, Amy Obyrn, Rebecca (Terry) Tuckenhagen, Catherine Beckstrand (Chuck Goddard), Deborah (Charlie) Carriger, and Robert Beckstrand (Kathy Eli); 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service took place Saturday, Jan. 9 at 11 a.m. at the Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano, with a gathering of family and friends from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service. Inurnment was in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Delano.
Arrangements were with the Iten Funeral Home in Delano.
