Dennis C. Bodin, 69

Dennis “Denny” Charles Bodin, age 69 years, of Watertown, SD, formerly of Montrose, passed away Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at his residence, from complications of liver and bone cancer. He fought a short, but courageous battle.

He was born Jan. 4, 1947, in Buffalo, to Earl and June (Duske) Bodin.

Dennis was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montrose.

He graduated from Buffalo High School in 1965.

Dennis and Shirley Wandersee were joined in holy marriage Nov. 6, 1965, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montrose. God blessed their marriage with one child.

Dennis was employed by Terex (Telelect) for 49 proud years. He retired in 2014, was looking forward to his retirement. He enjoyed his yard, fishing, hunting, spending time with his friends and family, and a special puppy, Sadie.

Denny is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley; his daughter, Lori Bodin Sawatzke; granddaughters Brittany (Dave) Keltgen, and Brooke Sawatzke; great-grandson, Brayden; step-son Dan (Annette) Lindeman; grandchildren James (Heather); great-grandchildren Lucy and Gryphen, Jason (Megan), and Kristin (Jonathan); his siblings, David (Judy) Bodin, Nancy (Dale) Daniels, Susan Bodin, and Richard (Mary) Bodin; six brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and June Bodin; and by his sister, Carolyn Bodin.

Funeral services took place Thursday, Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Montrose, followed by interment in the church cemetery. There was visitation one hour prior to the services at the church.

Honorary casket bearers were his many friends at Terex, and his nephew, Fr. Daniel Bodin.

Casket bearers were Nathan, Aaron, Jared and Ronald Bodin, and Michael and Christopher Daniels.

Arrangements were with the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. Memorials may be designated to Prairie Lakes Hospice, 401 9th Ave. NW, Watertown, SD 57201.
