Harlan Gene Dobratz, age 77, of New Germany, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at his home.
His funeral service will be Monday, May 2, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany with the Rev. LeRoy LaPlant officiating. Interment will be in Crow River Cemetery in New Germany.
Visitation was Sunday, May 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church, and will continue Monday, one hour prior to the service. There was a prayer service Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
Casket bearers are Mike Dobratz, Paul Dobratz, Steve Dobratz, Brian Schubert, Jerry Schubert, Jon Narr, Gene Narr, and Jesse Narr.

Harlan was born May 5, 1938, at the Cottage Hospital at Watertown, the son of Walter and Lillian (Schoeppler) Dobratz. He was baptized by the Rev. H.F. Rieke, and confirmed by the Rev. E.A. Werner, both at Mayer Evangelical Church.
Harlan was united in marriage to Carolyn Narr Sept. 13, 1964, by the Rev. Louis Wetzel at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown.
Harlan farmed all his life; first in partnership with his brother, Duane, and later with sons, Roger and Robert.
He served in the National Guard for eight years.
Harlan also served on the Hollywood Township Board, the county planning commission, the Carver County Board, and Carver Soil and Water Board.
He was an active church member, serving as an elder, president, and secretary.
However, Harlan was most proud of Roger troweling a concrete floor to a mirror finish, Robert switching a transmission, and Cindy working her way through college to obtain her master’s degree.
Harlan was preceded in death by his son, Roger; parents Walter and Lillian Dobratz; brother Duane and sister-in-law Loree Dobratz; father-in-law Raymond Narr; brother-in-law John Narr; and granddaughter Carrie Peterson.
He is survived by his loving family: wife Carolyn Dobratz; son and daughter-in-law Robert and Jodie Dobratz of New Germany; daughter Cindy Dobratz of Dubai; daughter-in-law Dianne Dobratz of Waconia; and grandchildren Ashley Dobratz and friend Todd Dolezal, Chad Dobratz, Denise and Kevin Dokken, Cheryl Williams, Joe Peterson.
Harlan is further survived by great-grandchildren Nicole Dokken, David Dokken, Hailey Peterson and fiancé Troy, Raeven Peterson, and Montana Peterson; great-great grandchildren Bentley Dokken and Kendall Peterson; mother-in-law Vernice Narr of Watertown; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Valeria and Lowell Schubert of Watertown, Linda and Erland Hoese of Howard Lake, Bruce and Sandy Narr of Dassel, Becky and Jeff Grossinger of Watertown; godchildren Delilah Ownbey, Brian Schubert, and Jesse Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
