Harvey Engelman, 78

Harvey Carl Engelman, age 78, of Annandale, died Saturday, March 5, 2016, at his home.

He was born March 26, 1937, in Middleville Township, Wright County, to Charles and Olga (Lorentz) Engelman.

Harvey was baptized May 2, 1937, at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake by the Rev. Seltz. He was confirmed in his faith in May 1950 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township, Wright County by the Rev. Herman Bentrup.

Harvey was joined in marriage with Shirley Jean Jewett Jan. 12, 1957, at Zion Lutheran Church in Annandale by the Rev. Kurzweg. The two were blessed with four children.

Harvey started working for the Wright County Highway Department in 1959, later becoming superintendant until his retirement in 1995.

Harvey and Shirley worked side-by-side on their farm, cutting wood and tending to their large garden.

Harvey enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and time up north at the family cabin.

He loved his family, dog Charlie, his collection of John Deere tractors, John Deere five-wheeler/gator, and his John Deere rider, cutting four acres of lawn.

Above all, Harvey loved Jesus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Olga Engelman; parents-in-law, Emery and Mabel Jewett; and siblings, Allen, Marion, Luverne Heiskary, and Earl.

Harvey is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley Engelman; son, Russ (Deb) Engelman; daughters, Sandra Clausen (fiancé Jon Lambrecht), Evelyn (Ron) Otto, and Rosie (Morrie) Pribyl; and grandchildren, Angie (Greg), Melissa (Paul), Eric (Tammy), Justin (Priscilla), James (Krissy), Ryan (Courtney), Jake (Liz), Josh, Joe, Justin, and Anne.

He is further survived by great-grandchildren, Haley, Brooke, Noah, Isaac, Ezra, Breanna, Maggie, Emma Jean, Ryder, Allyssa, Jameson, Emerson, Casey, Peityn, Carson, and Kaedin; a sister, Lorene (Ron) Pletcher; brother-in-law, Andy Heiskary; and many other family members, and friends.

The funeral service took place Friday, March 11 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Annandale with the Rev. Thomas Queck officiating. There was visitation prior to the service, from 9 to 11 a.m., at the church. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery in Annandale.

Casket bearers were Eric Clausen, Justin Engelman, James Otto, Ryan Clausen, Justin Otto, Jake Otto, Josh Pribyl, and Joe Pribyl.

Honorary casket bearers were Dave Spike, Matt Spike, Tom Spike, and Dan Rosten.
