Carol J. Herrmann, 67

Carol Jean Herrmann, age 67, of Norwood Young America, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016, at University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis.

She was born April 23, 1949, in New Prague, the daughter of Ardell and Erna (Rolf) Wolter. Carol was baptized May 8, 1949, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Young America by the Rev. W.P. Kramer; and confirmed in the faith April 7, 1963, at the same church by the Rev. R.L. Reith. Her confirmation verse was “Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life” Rev. 2:10.

Carol graduated from Central High School June 1, 1967.

She was united in marriage with Richard L. Herrmann May 8, 1971, at St. John’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. Henry Fry. This was Rev. Fry’s first wedding conducted at St. John’s.

Carol was employed in January 1968 at Pioneer Telephone in Waconia, and retired from Sprint Telephone after 35 years in the industry. She also was a custodian for several years at Central High School in Norwood Young America, and the Victoria Elementary School in Victoria.

Carol felt truly blessed to have a wonderful family in her husband, Rich, and sons Troy, Brian, and Matt, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, parents, brother and sisters, and their families.

A faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America, Carol was a member of its choir and Altar Guild, where she served as president from 2012 to 2016.

She loved playing softball, enjoyed camping, playing cards, making cards, painting, listening to ‘50-’60s rock and roll, and country music. She cherished the time with her grandchildren, and loved attending their activities.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Herrmann; parents Ardell and Erna Wolter; and father-in-law George Herrmann Jr.

She is survived by her loving family: sons and daughters-in-law Troy and Julie Herrmann of Cologne, Brian Herrmann of Carver, and Matt and Erin Herrmann of Lester Prairie; and grandchildren Logan, Kylie and Kassi Herrmann, and Caiden, Bennett and Teagan Herrmann.

Carol is further survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Maynard and Barb Rolf of Pelican Rapids; sisters and brothers-in-law Lois and Jerry Tiggelaar, Lynette and Dennis Feltmann, all of Norwood Young America, and Susan and Bert Wagner of Stewart; mother-in-law Verona Herrmann of Norwood Young America; brother-in-law Robert Herrmann of Austin, TX; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many special friends.

Carol’s funeral service took place Thursday, July 14 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America with the Rev. Eric Hutchison as officiant. Interment was in the church cemetery.

There was visitation Wednesday, July 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, and Thursday at the church one hour prior to the service.

Serving as casket bearers were Carol’s nephews, Chad Feltmann, Chris Feltmann, Corey Feltmann, Alan Rolf, Dan Rolf, Mark Rolf, and Jeff Wagner.

Her grandchildren were honorary casket bearers.
