Delores M. Hirsch Obituary – 7/3/2016


Delores May Hirsch, age 86, of Winsted, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016, at The Garden House in Winsted.

She was born Jan. 17, 1930, in Rhinelander, WI, the daughter of Cliff and Pearl (Crouttau) Ring.

Delores and Marvin E. Hirsch were joined in holy marriage April 22, 1948, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Minneapolis. God blessed their marriage with 11 children.

Delores and Marvin owned and operated the family’s business, Hirsch Mercantile, in downtown Winsted for over 50 years, retiring in 1979. The two later became involved with the buying and selling of real estate properties.

Delores was active at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and in the community, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 62 years.

She will be remembered for her quick wit, generosity and loving nature.

Delores is survived by her children: Marvin “Doug” Hirsch Jr. (Debby), Denise Waldoch (Fred), Daniel Hirsch (Dawn), Kelli Kulseth (Doug), Cary Hirsch, David Hirsch (Connie Quast), Mary Nozena, Trudi Perkins (John), Marty Hirsch (Lisa), and Jeremy Hirsch (Trisha); 30 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; sisters Nancy and Jackie; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin E. Hirsch Sr.; daughter Caron Franklin; parents; and siblings Pete, Melvin, Dan, Bill, Mary, and Laura.

Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, July 7 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted with Father Paul Schumacher as the celebrant. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Winsted.

There was visitation Wednesday, July 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, with parish prayers at 7 p.m.

Delores’s six sons were her casket bearers: Marvin “Doug” Hirsch Jr., Daniel Hirsch, Cary Hirsch, David Hirsch, Marty Hirsch, and Jeremy Hirsch.
