Allen Luvern Holmberg, age 79, of Knapp, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016.
He was born Jan. 23, 1937, in Harvey Township, Meeker County, to Lawrence and Ida (Nelson) Holmberg. Allen was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Grove City.
He attended District 75 Meeker County School, and graduated from Litchfield High School in 1954. Allen attended one year at St. Cloud State University, where he wrestled on the Husky team.
He followed the love of his life to St. Paul, becoming a beautician, like Gloria. Allen married Gloria Nelson Oct. 18, 1958. They had two children, Lorene and Vanessa, making their home in Cokato, where they farmed together.
Allen is survived by his daughter, Vanessa (Mark) Sjobeck; grandchildren Collin and Alexandra Sjobeck; son in-law Bob Bonine and his children, Matthew and Marie Bonine; a brother, Chet (Barb) Holmberg; sister in-law Darlene Holmberg; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; parents Lawrence and Ida; daughter Lorene Bonine; sister Ardis Anderson; and brother Wesley Holmberg.
The funeral service was Saturday, April 23 at 10 a.m. at North Crow River Lutheran Church in Knapp.
Visitation was Friday, April 22 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church, and continued Saturday one hour prior to the service.
